CARLSBERG F.A.VASE FINAL AT WEMBLEY 2000

On 16th May 2000 Chippenham Town F.C. had the honour of being one of the last teams to play on the original Wembley turf in the final of the Carlsberg F.A. Vase against Deal Town it was also a milestone for Tommy Saunders (CTFC manger) he became the youngest ever manager to take a team to Wembley. The game attracted over 14,000 Chippenham fans and was the second highest attendance at an F.A. Vase final. Chippenham lost the game in the 84th minute to a superb goal. Chippenham`s players returned to the town the Sunday after Wembley and over 5,000 people lined the streets to great them (what if we`d won) it was probably the largest party Chippenham has seen  since 1945. The occasion will live forever in the history of Chippenham and the football club, here are some photo`s many of which have been obtained from the players and officials. WELL DONE CHIPPENHAM TOWN
